My personal style! I decided to start this blog in order to chronicle my daily style, and to document how it changes and develops. This blog is also a creative outlet that allows me to start a conversation about style and fashion.
When we analyze the way we dress or the colors and accessories we choose, we gain an interesting glimpse into the types of individuals we are. After all, we use clothing symbolically—and strategically—to disclose aspects of our personality. In doing so, it becomes the first clue we give others about whom we are…or whom we want to be.
A Key to the Armoire gives you access to my world; to my vision of fashion and style. Of course, I do not expect everyone to like what I wear; this is, after all, my perspective.
However, it may inspire you to think about your own personal style, whether to find it or develop it further.
It may also give you ideas of how to combine your own pieces or consider a pairing you never thought you would try.
In general, my style tends to be classic, tailored, and feminine. The first thing I do before choosing an outfit is to pay attention to how I feel or what I need to convey for the occasion. I rarely think about what to wear ahead of time, and I seriously hate trying several outfits when getting dressed, so what I pull from the Armoire, I end up wearing. Most of the time, I choose one piece and immediately build on the rest.
When it comes to clothes, I have a huge pet peeve: I only wear natural fibers, no blends or synthetics. The only exception I make is for metallics, Lycra and Spandex or waterproof materials. I respect and admire the effort that goes into an unusual or intricate cut, as well as the little details that denote the attention to quality of a garment.
My main focus when shopping is quality and then, fit. Although often times these two aspects tend to be linked to price, that is not always the case. I have seen poor quality in expensive clothes by known brands, as well as wonderful quality in lesser-known brands that sell at a lower price. Ultimately, this suggests that style is not achieved with money, but with an eye trained to know what to buy within your budget.
Thank you for visiting and for following A Key to the Armoire. It is your visits, feedback, and comments what motivates me to keep working on this blog, and I appreciate them enormously!
