Just like it takes time to curate a home, it also takes time to curate a closet. Take this outfit, for instance. First, came the Ferragamo Vara shoes, whose lace-like, laser-cut design reminded me of eyelet. A few years later, came the ruffled top, and finally, a couple of years after that I found the skirt, which I altered a bit to wear with the ribbons on both sides.
Eyelet is also something I don’t associate with color blocking, but I think that it ended up looking great, mostly because the eyelet links the two (actually, the three) elements in this outfit.
Because eyelet is such a quintessential Spring-Summer staple, adding this vintage, Italian woven rattan handbag was a no-brainer. This handbag belonged to my mom, and to update it, I simply switched its chain for a bamboo handle by Purificacion Garcia. I also clipped a faux tortoise flower hair barrette as a closure, which is a trick that I love to do to my handbags! Finally, I carried the faux tortoise theme by wearing other faux tortoise pieces of jewelry.
